ESL Major Series with DotA

After the ClanBase announced Defence of the Ancients as EuroCup title, today another good news is coming up for the DotA community: The ESL Major Series added DotA aswell.

DotA is becoming more and more popular and that's what the league organizations are getting aware of. Now the ESL added DotA as one of four games to their new Major Series, a league that is quite similar to the new EuroCup.
The ESL is counting on games that are not that popular or don't have that much leagues yet and therefore are strongly competing with the EuroCup.

The games next to DotA are for example CS 1.6 Female, CS:Source and FIFA 2007. Overall 14.000€ and hardware prizes will be spend as prize for all game disciplines, a total of 1.500E for DotA. For sure another good news for the DotA teams, but most likely no good news for the ClanBase.

- The ESL Major Series is a collection of Pro leagues situated below the ESL Pro Series' and the Extreme Masters in the ESL's league structure that aim to capture the best players and teams in Europe in the selected games. For most of the tournaments anyone in Europe can qualify through national and international qualifiers. If you're wondering where Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft 3 are, we haven't forgotten about them.
This is what TheRouge, co-headadmin of ESL.eu, stated to SK-Gaming.com.

The finals will be held offline and the ESL planned 1.000€ as travel expenses for the teams that are participating. It seems as if not every game will have offline finals, further information will be given soon.
