Kolento snatches first tournament gold at VGVN [decklists inside]

After a dominant run through the opposition, Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh is crowned VGVN #2 champion. The Ukrainian went 3-0 in the group stage and then scored a cumulative 8-2 in the playoffs and took the lion's share of the $2,500 prize pool.

After getting denied the Millenium M-House Cup trophy in late June by Amaz, Kolento finally claimed his first ever tournament win. The Ukrainian was revealed as one of the invites for the second edition of the VGVN tournament, drawing his enormous Twitch.tv fanbase to watch him compete.

The Cloud 9 star didn't disappoint. Placed in Group B with Trump, Xixo and Realz, Kolento finished with a score of 3-0 (9-2 in games), entering the playoffs as a top seed. Once in the playoffs, he pulled a quick victory against ThijsNL (4-1) on the back of his Druid and Shaman decks, using them once again a game later, in the grand finals against Hyped.

Just like Thijs, the American was deal a 1-4 defeat which manifested Kolento's victory. The win in the grand final came mostly thanks to Kolento's Druid - a build he used to reach #1 on the legend ladder - and which scoreboarded a 11-3 record these last three days on the VGVN grounds.

With his VGVN win and along with his top 3 finish at the WEC European qualifiers and silver finish at Millenium Cup, Kolento currently holds the #5 position in the world rankings and #2 in Europe, coming behind Rdu

Below are the fifth decks of the four finalists. F.l.t.r. Thijs, Hyped, Trump and Kolento.
