VCT 2022: South Built Esports wins the Philippines Stage 1 Challengers

They beat NAOS Esports in a string of back-to-back wins.

The grand finals for the VCT Philippines Stage 1 Challengers was played over the weekend, and a surprise win that came out of the left field surprising one of the strongest teams in PH right now. The top three teams walked away with cash, as well as being the seed at the APAC Challengers, set to commence on 10 March 2022.

NAOS Esports met up with South Built Esports in the Grand Final after the former breezed through the upper bracket , while the latter went through the losers’ bracket to reach the final round.

The match started with Breeze, where SBE took the lead in the first half of the map, and came out in front as the first half ended. But NAOS Esports rose up to win the second half and eventually the map 13-11.

SBE gained second wind with Haven , where they dominated NAOS easily to win the map 13-11. The story repeated itself in the next two rounds, where they trumped NAOS Esports in Ascent and Icebox where they won as both defender and attacker. The final score was 3-1 for South Built Esports.

With this win, SBE walked away with $10,000 and also became one of the seeds for the APAC Challengers. They are joined by NAOS Esports and Action PH. The three teams join the other 17 teams from APAC as they fight to see who will represent APAC to the Masters Reykjavik.
