A Viewers Guide to ONOG Operation Breakout playoffs

Eight teams fighting for their share of the $15,000 prize pool. Will EnVyUs come out on top, or will Cloud9 get back to their winning ways?

Event Hub

A few weeks ago we announced the VGVN/ONOG Overwatch Invitational, a three-week long tournament, aimed at brining attention to the hardships that eSport competitors face when trying to secure a visa so they can compete in the United States. Open qualifiers and pool play have taken place over the past few weeks and today the playoffs start with eight teams looking to take home their share of the $15,000 prize pool. Play will start tonight at 8:00 PM EST and continue at the same time tomorrow. The grand finals will take place at 8:00 PM EST on Sunday, June 26th.

Predictions:

EnVyUs
EnVyUs seems to be the current team to beat after taking down Cloud9 twice during last nights Alienware Monthly Melee. EnVyUs has always looked strong, but ever since all the players made the move to the team house a few weeks ago, EnVyUs has looked almost unstoppable. They are currently on an eighteen game win streak, and has only one loss to go with their thirty-nine wins in June. Look for EnVyUs to cement their place as the top team and come away with a first place finish.

Cloud9
Cloud9 has been the dominant team for the past two months, having an overall record of twenty-three wins and only two losses during May and June. Those two losses came at the hands of EnVyUs last night and it would not be surprising to see a rematch in the winner’s bracket finals. Other than EnVyUs, Cloud9 has proved they can handle any other team that they face so Cloud9 should still have a strong finish.

Luminosity Gaming
Luminosity has always had flashes of greatness but have had trouble with consistency and finishing out matches. In their past fifteen games they have only three losses, two against Cloud9 and one against EnVyUs. Sadly for Luminosity, they will face EnVyUs in their first matchup and with EnVyUs looking superior to just about everyone, Luminosity may be in trouble. If they do lose to EnVyUs, look for Luminosity to bounce back and make a push for third place and even potentially challenging Cloud9 for second.

REUNITED
It will be interesting to see if REUNITED is actually back on track after losing two of their past three games. Their first matchup isn’t a guaranteed win as they go up against Rogue, who are on a four game win streak and nipping at the heels of REUNITED. If they are able to scrape out a win, their round 2 matchup could be against Northern Gaming Red. The same team that was able to beat REUNITED just a few days ago.
