Effects of the Beta: Gamepad aim-assist revisited

The beta has only just started, but already Blizzard is getting valuable feedback from it. The first effect of the beta: gamepad aim assist will need to be reworked.
There have been times when Betas were just devices to get money for unfinished games, but Blizzard isn't charging us. There have been times when Betas were used purely to be able to release a game and be done with it, but Blizzard is showing their desire to make the most of the beta players' feedback.
Since the start of Closed Beta, Jeff Kaplan, game director of Overwatch, has been using his spare time to interact with the Overwatch community. With the official Overwatch forums receiving a lot of attention from the game's successful beta release, Jeff Kaplan has been commenting on several questions and issues that the players have reported. One such comment is the following:

The reddit thread that is referenced, shed some light on the existence of exploits that will allow keyboard+mouse players to cloak themselves as gamepad players. This exploit would then allow kb/m players to unfairly profit from the aim-assist that Blizzard was planning for gamepad players.
It seems that the dev team was not aware of the existence of such exploits, and upon learning about it decided to (for now) disable the aim-assist from the game for all players. It is unknown whether they can reintroduce the concept at a later point, or if gamepad players will eventually be matched with other gamepad players only to make the player experience the best for everyone.
