Code S Grp H: Stephano out with a 3-4

Stephano's first participation in Code S ended with untimely exit as the French zerg just could not find a way to defeat STX's Bogus.

Ever since his coming to power, DongRaeGu has been known for his ZvT and opening Group H against Hack truly came as a gift. Young and less experienced when it comes to the Code S stage (as well as relatively unimpressive in the match-up), Hack served as the first stepping stone to DRG’s Ro16 ascension, giving him a 2-0 victory after choking on the overflowing creep spread and a zerg army so big it didn’t care about splitting against fungals or the drones dying at home to blue flame hellions.

The conqueror of Stephano Bogus did not prove too bigger a challenge and like his terran brother fell 0-2 to DongRaeGu’s aggression. Muta opening into fast 3/3 ultras mopped Bogus in game one while an untimely unsiege cost him the second game after lings, banelings and mutas broke into his third base. A rematch against Stephano was coming.

And this rematch would bring end to Stephano’s first ever Code S participation, as he banked an aggregate 1-4 against the KeSPA terran. Lethal damages from drop plays, build order losses against preigniter hellions and bunker rushes and marine/marauder pushes hitting before infestors was a cocktail too heavy on Stephano’s stomach and although the Frenchman successfully dodged playing ZvZ today, facing terrans did not bring him bigger success.

Despite his demise, Stephano did look intimidating today and his chances in Code A are looking great. Scheduled to play his first Code A match on February 19th, Stephano is two wins away from returning to Code S and is certain to compete in the up/down matches should triumph not come.
