Code S Group F: A king rises, a king falls

Placed in the same group, two rivals and pillars of the terran race passed each other without confrontation. Yet one of them survived, while the other faced elimination.

Sharing a pool with his old rival Mvp could not have been a pleasant feeling for MarineKing but the gods were looking over the ever-emotional terran today. Dropping one set to RorO was enough to remind MKP that this is a group that will not tolerate subpar play and with that, the face of team Prime switched into all-killing mode.

Daybreak and Whirlwind ensured the first victory for MKP but he was just getting started and his opponent in the second series - MVP's Keen - was treated to the humiliating, world-renowned micro of the Code S veteran. Juggling marauders with medivacs and dodging banshee shots was an appropriate graduation ceremony and MKP, having completely evaded his old nemesis, stepped into the Ro16.

Remembering RorO's first televized steps into SC2 and his ZvTs of old - grand and masterful despite their infancy - it was no surprise that we see him in the Ro16 as well. KHAN's zerg again showed why he holds a 70%+ win rate against terrans and handled hive tech compositions (rich on both ultras and brood lords) with scary dexterity. Both Keen and Mvp fell dead by his hand, unable to stop the zerg neither with early game aggression, nor with late-game turtling, scoreboarding a cumulative 0-4.

With this being RorO's first time past the Ro32 of Code S, eyes are thus set on the KeSPA player in anticipation is his further conquests.

Unfortunately for the fans of the Game Genie Terran, today saw the end of Mvp in Code S Season 1 and the most accomplished player to GSL standards will play out the last Wings of Liberty event in Code A. The four-times opened the day strong, showcasing an impeccable battle cruiser play in the first game against Keen but results went downhill from there. Finishing last in the group places Mvp one Bo3 away from GSL elimination.
