Empire takes victory at ASUS FBOTY

Team Empire defeats Virtus.Pro in the grand final of ASUS Final Battle of the Year to take the team's fist offline victory.

It's the first offline tournament win for Team Empire, and the timing couldn't be any better. After taking down Na'Vi yesterday in the semi finals of ASUS Final Battle of the Year, Empire also removes Virtus.Pro from the path to first place.

In the four-day tournament, Empire and Virtus.Pro first fought through two days of group phase with eight teams, all of them from CIS countries, although the tournament wasn't limited to them. Both VP and Empire got through this phase as group winners.

Undefeated in the semi finals, the two Russian teams kept their focus on the grand final, which was held like the whole tournament in the Cybersports Arena in Kiev. For Empire, the victory against Na'Vi was even more convincing, though Na'Vi didn't look quite on the top of their play.

Kiev remains the key city for European Dota 2 for now, as StarLadder StarSeries finals of Season 4 arise already on Thursday. The top 3 teams of ASUS FBOTY will battle there again, joined by the Western European team fnatic. Empire with two straight wins against VP and Na'Vi looks like the favorite to take two tournaments in a row.
