G-1 Champions League: EG fail to make it to China

The semifinalists of G-1 Champions League are now set in stone - LGD edged out Evil Geniuses two games to none last night to cash in their slot at the offline semifinals of G-1 along with a guaranteed prize money in store for them. EG are unfortunately out of the running.

Perhaps it was a mistake on EG's part to use the same Knights strategy that they had previous employed only a few days ago against TongFu. LGD seemed to have a better understanding of what would work for them compared to TongFu - their early game consisted of keeping the creep wave at the bottom lane near the tier 1 Radiant tower all the time and this kept DeMoN's Omniknight at Level 1 throughout most of the first five minutes.

While EG were able to claw their way back into the game as mid game approached and the presence of tanks Chaos Knight and Slardar were able to brute force towers across the map, LGD was quick to respond and took teamfights cautiously and only when they stood a chance of coming out on top.

As the thirty minute mark was crossed and LGD's three Carrys - Storm Spirit, Bounty Hunter, Lifestealer - were racking up decent farm from all the Track gold and experience, EG's advantage slowly slipped away as their heroes were munched on in teamfights which they could no longer win.

In the second game, LGD employed a classic iG lineup consisting of high mobility heroes such as Night Stalker and Bounty Hunter, along with the Warcry from Sven.

EG took the advantage early on again with the top lane won due to timely Teleports from Maelk's Nature's Prophet to assist in ganks but the first night phase provided some relief for LGD as they were able to stay in the game with Track ganks.

The second game soon turned out to be a repeat of the first as LGD slowly turned their disadvantage around while EG were unable to deal with the mobile lineup that LGD had picked up. The GG was eventually called at 38 minutes after the second set of barracks at top lane fell.
