FL|Banana: From watching TI2, my passion for gaming suddenly flamed up

Perhaps the best in the dota scene in 2010, FL|Banana was part of the great Nirvana.cn 2010 which was the home of the famous PIS/Yaphets. ItsGosu sits down with one of its core success member, Banana. He talks about how Dota 2 has made great success and his past as a Nirvana member and also his new team,FL(For Love).

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

You were a part of the team from its start to its dissolution. What are the best memories you have from your stay in Nirvana?

We were like a big family; living all together was great, and we were accomplished as a team. It was pitiful that the team disbanded.

During your time in Nirvana, you got to play with fantastic players such as Chen “Zhou” Yao, Bu “YaphetS” Yanjun, Chen “Dgc” Xu, Chen “ksssssss” Bin, and the list goes on… Who are the players that you enjoyed playing with the most? Are there players that influenced your career or helped you become the player you are right now?

I like the teammates from 2010; learned a lot from them. Zhou plays a lot of pubs and is stubborn. YaphetS’s skills are amazing; he played Mirana often in pub games. My favorite is Dgc. He has a great personality and his game style is fierce. I like gank-focused styles.

You were recently in the spotlight as you teamed-up with For Love, an excellent DotA team having recently transitioned to Dota 2. Why did you decide to join For Love while there were, and still are, many more accomplished Dota 2 teams revamping their line-up?

I’m good friends with Guai so he invited me. On top of that, from watching TI2, my passion for gaming suddenly flamed up. I like playing in tournaments.

Not only did you play with remarkable players, you also achieved great results in several tournaments, be they online or offline. Is there a tournament in particular that you are proud of winning? Is there a tournament that you regret not having won?

I am most proud of winning WDC; and regret not having won SMM from the same year. I felt that we could’ve won that particular game; there were mistakes, so I regret that a lot.

Speaking of Dota 2, you have recently made the switch. What are your thoughts about Valve’s masterpiece?

When I first started playing the game, I was not accustomed to it since I played a lot of Dota. After a while I noticed that the art style leans toward that of the European, very detailed and operating the game was very smooth. I feel that this game is almost perfect, there are very few bugs.
