Although clans were announced as HotS feature months ago, it was only today that first details about the system were revealed.
Creating a clan will open a new window for the members with private chat, information about the team, related news and members' list and upon joining, players will automatically get their nicknames pre-pended with the clan tag.
The clan system will be coming to HotS beta with patch 2.0.1. and player who desire to form one must mind those prerequisites:
Clan names must be 3-24 characters long, and will be case sensitive, allowing spaces, numbers, periods, apostrophes, and commas.
Clan Tags must be 2-4 characters long, and are also case sensitive, allowing spaces, numbers, periods, apostrophes, and commas.
Clan names and Tags must adhere to standard name policies.
The Clan Tag is automatically pre-pended to a player’s name.
There is a limit of 50 members per Clan.
Additionally, Blizzard also mention a similar social feature, called Groups system. Unlike clans, groups are to cater for the needs of the more casual players and will be larger in size. The criteria by which players will join a certain group might vary strongly, from just being part of a certain region, through belonging to a certain Barcraft community, to being affiliated with some eSports organization.
More information about groups is to come soon.
