The matchmaking changes that came in season seven has been reverted, reports Blizzard Entertainment's Community Manager Kaivax. The experiment did not pan out like predicted.The alteration done for the new season meant you would not always be evenly matched with your opponent as the range of opponents chosen in matchmaking would "loosen". The thought was to make the ladder experience more well-rounded, and that it would offer a change to get promoted more quickly.
- "What we saw with this experiment were undesirable consequences for players at the far ends of the range of skill, and we have now returned to the previous matchmaker tuning," can be read at the Battle.net forums.
Blizzard did however mention that further adjustments to the matchmaker might happen in the future.
