TL.net user Clefairy has translated an inew24.com article saying that Blizzard's CEO, currently on a visit to South Korea, have talked to OnGameNet regarding the launch of a StarCraft 2 Pro League in 2012.
According to the translation, Morheim, who was attending the SK Planet Proleague playoffs, had spoken to OnGameNet about the possibility of running a SC2 Pro League, which industry representatives expect to launch with the start of pro league's season 2.
"This visit is to meet with all the parties involved with us and to improve relations with Korea. A lot of things are going to happen in Korea this year," said Morheim and added that he expects that Blizzard can work with KeSPA to open the aforementioned new tournament in 2012.
"I am aware of KeSPA and OGN's wishes to run a Starcraft 2 tournament. I expect all issues to be dealt with and a tournament to open this year."
First rumors about a KeSPA affiliated SC2 tournament arose a few months ago when Osen and Fomos.kr reported that KeSPA teams had started practicing StarCraft 2 and updating their computer equipment. Those hints of a switch to SC2 were never made official by KeSPA or Blizzard representatives - as they are not still - but having Morheim's words in mind we can expect a formal statement about a new Pro League tournament soon.
