January 5th concluded with the first batch of group stage games, ending with the matches in groups C and D. The Koreans took another first place seeds, leaving behind Dimaga and Cloud.
After Nerchio, Socke, MarineKing and ViOlet already secured their spots at the Ro16, it came the time for eight more players to test their skills. Group C began with a strong statement from Ukrainian Zerg Dimaga, who started off with two 2-0 victories against Attero and Adelscott but so did one other player as well - Type's ReaL. The Korea Protoss, mostly known with his multiple first places at various weekly cups (though lacking a major gold thus far), finally faced Dimaga in the decisive match and defeating him flawlessly, finishing with the only 6-0 in the group stage thus far.
One of the strongest favorites to grab the HSC 4 winner's check MC had a similar run, surviving the terran-dominated Group D and growing the enjoy a 6-1 overall score, dropping only a single map to the group runner-up Cloud and leaving French player Aures and WhiteRa's substitute PoYo out of the tournament.

Today at 14:00 CET begins the second round of Ro32 group stage matches and many questions that are hanging unanswered will have light shed upon them. Can HerO, Sound and JYP finish what their compatriot started and get seven out of seven score for their country at the Ro16? Will Stephano and Moman break the bad luck that befell Aures and Adelscott? What will be the outcome of the Dutch-colored Group H and can Destiny and Goody fight through Grubby and Ret? Who shall proceed to the Ro16 will be decided today.
