EG's zerg player Greg "Idra" Field came victorious after the two-day ASUS Stars Invitational tournament, bringing home $6,000. Idra trumped Sjow and WhiteRa in the previous rounds to finally meet SeleCT in the grand final where he emerged as champion with a 4-2 score.

After forcing a very, very early GG from Idra thanks to a bunker rush on Shattered Temple, SeleCT tried to extend his early aggression build on Metalopolis as well. The Korean flew his starting CC to the gold and marked Idra for death from the very beginning but Greg reacted patiently and turned the game around with perfect micro.

SeleCT took the lead once again on Xel'Naga Caverns as after his hellion opening he moved down to secure a gold third. Eager to deny SeleCT this advantage, Idra charged in with his banelings but a tank hit took care of all of them and the EG zerg gg-ed out for 1-2.

What followed was nothing less than perfect ZvT play from Idra. The "Gracken" was unleashed upon SeleCT and in three consecutive games - on Altar, Shakuras Plateu and Antiga Shipyard - Greg succeeded in taking the championship gold in his grasp, tormenting SeleCT with unending muta harass and doing a late-game transition to mass brood lords. Although he fought valiantly and did not easily surrender the war, SeleCT was battered down to second place and $3,000 of prize money. This is the third gold for Idra in the last two months as he finished first at both IEM Guangzhou and the MLG North American Invitational.
