Samuli "Elfi" Sihvonen continues his excellent tournament run, taking 3rd at the ASUS ROG Stars Invite. Elfi slapped down "grandpa toss" WhiteRa 3-1 to walk $1,000 richer.

True to his PvP style, Elfi used mind games, 4-gating, warp prism and colossus tech to pull a quick 2-0 over the Ukrainian protoss and putting him in a dire straits just one game away of elimination. Fortunately for his fans, though, WhiteRa managed to concentrate and pull himself together and win the third game on Shakuras, coming out of the difficult two game deficit. WhiteRa did not fall for the fake 4-gate pressure of Elfi and when he sniped a stray warp prism, WhiteRa counter-attacked to make the score a bit closer.

Ultimately, however, Elfi snatched the bronze with a build order win on Antiga Shipyard. Once again he opened with the "maybe fake, maybe not" 4-gate pressure and WhiteRa just made the wrong call. Thinking this will be another early pressure trick into a macro build, WhiteRa went for a 2-gate/nexus build but this time the threat was real - Elfi hit the front with a gateway advantage and soon the GG of WhiteRa rewarded him with $1,000.

This is the fourth top 3 finish for Elfi after three silver medals at the Finland WCG Qualifiers, the MSI pro cup and IEM Guangzhou Global Challenged. The young protoss will have at least one more chance to further prove his prowess in a major tournament as he is one of the invites for DreamHack Winter (November 24-26).

The ASUS ROG Stars Invitational will end with the grand final match between EG's Idra and Dignitas' SeleCT. The match is scheduled for 15:00 CET and $6,000 first place prize are still on the table.
