NASL 2 W5D5: Equilibrium

Scrimmage Report

Tyler continued to struggle in NASL, scoring another loss this time against qxc. The terran took an early lead on Terminus after catching all of Tyler's colossi stranded and sniped them with vikings but was tied on Dual Sight after he could not effectively battle the protoss contain at his ramp. QXC took the third set after Tyler made a grave mistake and lost all his blink stalkers in a sacrificial operation and thus had troubles fighting the marauder ball in the mid-game.

The brood wars between Dimaga and Moman ended with a 2-1 for the Ukrainian. Dimaga swept set 1 by outroaching his opponent but on Dual Sight he got involved in a base trade scenario which Moman barely won with his last few remaining roaches. The third set was a build order loss for the French, as he opened roaches on Belshir Beach but could not keep away Dimaga's ling/baneling build.

In the third series for the night, HasuObs shook Puma's hopes for Top 1 tie by crushing him 2-0. Both games saw battles at or close to max supply but ultimately, despite the EMPs and marauders, Puma could not find a way to battle Hasu's storm/colossus deathball.

The division in short

There isn't much to say about W5D5 in particular as once in a while we are bound to witness some very standard games. After all this is not female thai boxing. This is StarCraft and sometimes people die to timing attacks or wrong build orders.

Still, there were certain highlights that can make your day. I do not see a reason why should not queue the Benny Hill team and enjoy Dimaga vs Moman on Dual Sight, watching the two engage in a death race for the last remaining extractor.

Puma vs HasuObs on Dual Sight was also a bit of a blast but solely for the pleasure of seeing huge armies clashing together, sparkling with particles of psi storms and EMPs and colossus lasers.

It's worrisome that I fail to find a topic that is entertaining enough and worthy of its own editorial spot. Maybe if there was one, just one, female thai boxer in the mix...

This must be the closest division I have seen in a while. Apart from Dimaga who is at +7 point and quite ahead of the others, the +3/+2 scores from 2nd to 5th place are insane. Puma's fall to Hasu was an upset few would predict but its affect is present nonetheless. A victory for Puma would've sent him right next to Dimaga but now... oh my, want an interesting group turmoil! I think this is the first time I name a division report after group standings.

Oh, and we are yet to witness the matches for the top 3 in the following weeks. Dimaga vs Puma/TT1 and QXC vs Puma/Hasu should untie the knot in Division V before its end... or tangle it even more.

As stated above, Hasu vs Qxc and TT1 vs Puma will be one of those matches that decide the NASL future for many players. For as long as NASL has been running, Puma has been switching between being 2nd and 3rd and he should be looking forward to fixing this and overtaking, possibly, Dimaga. Now I am not sure if he will be able to do it in the next week or so (since Dimaga will most definitely 2-0 TLO) but both have three more matches to go, the last one being between themselves.

Hasu vs QXC will bring a huge swap in the division if things go in German's favor. HasuObs has the potential of climbing two spots with one hit and it is up to qxc to stand in the way of this division cataclysm.
