Dear GosuGamers.net readers and eSport fans,

Over the course of one and a half month, the €1,500 Razer StarCraft 2 GosuCup has been on an unwanted hiatus.

The initial plan was to have the GosuCup to finish in early July, and only to have a one-week break. However, that turned out to not be the case.

Due to some poor planning and occasional over-leniency, we have allowed the tournament to drag on for too long, for which we are to blame as well. On behalf of the entire GosuCup staff, we apologize deeply for what has happened. At the same time hope that you will follow us as we conclude the GosuCup in the following week.

The process of getting the group stage games to finish was set to have one group stage round played per match day, but in the last couple of rounds players were having difficulty finding the time in their event schedules. And what started as one or two reschedules ended up with us taking a slippery slope down to hiatusville. Giving players such an amount of possibilities of rescheduling with that loose reins was a major blunder.

Other reasons for the cup's hindrance includes players not acting professional by not agreeing to the rules and terms of the tournament. While most of the players in GosuCup were very accommodative when it came to cross-server play, some were not. From a tournament organizer's point of view, having players giving us the fingers and saying they won't play on the server the rulebook permits and instead goes to forfeit their matches.

If they had told us right from the start of the GosuCup that they were unwilling to play outside of their server region we wouldn't have been in this predicament.

This lead to us bringing in some replacements, who I would like to applaud for showing good manner and being easy to work with. But it's still not a big of a band aid to overshadow the unprofessional behaviour by some of the players.

We have therefore taken action in placing a one-year ban on Juan "MajOr" Lopez and Aleksandar "Beastyqt" Krstić. This will apply on all events hosted by GosuGamers. The two players refused to play on the decided servers and did not show up on multiple times to agreed playdates without giving reasons.

This means that one of the matches in the playoffs, "MajOr" versus "Grubby" will not be played as MajOr forfeited after not abiding to the rules.

Joacim "RunA" Persson and Abdulaziz "CrunCher" Abed were two other players that dropped out of the tournament without giving us any notion. The two will therefore be banned from the next two GosuCup seasons.

But we can finally announce that the GosuCup will conclude, with the playoffs just around the corner. The first two rounds of the playoffs will be played best-of-five, and the grand final will be a big best-of-seven series to crown the winner of €900 EUR.
