Just last week, a press release was published stating that Alessandro "Stermy" Avallone was bringing professional gaming back to Italy with the Ultimate Gaming Championship. Although Stermy is a Quake professional gamer, the UGC will offer a StarCraft 2 tournament with a total prize-pool of $7000.
From the 31st of March to the 3rd of April 2011, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy will be host to gamers from around the world vying for over $30,000 in around half a dozen different competitions. One of these competitions will be a StarCraft 2 tournament where a total of $7000 has been set a side for the winners. Along with the announced competitions, a 1000-person BYOC LAN is planned for the event as well.
In a press released published last week, professional gamer Alessandro “Stermy” Avallone announced the Ultimate Gaming Championship, a tournament which Italian gamers have been waiting for and will mark the return of professional gaming to Italy. The event will be held at Getur Village for the duration of the tournament.
Currently there are no players registered, but a 40 Euros tournament fee will be charged to players who register for the tournament.
Sponsors listed thus far include stermy himself, Panav, and Samsung. Stermy is no surprise as the tournament seems to have been conceived by him, while Panav is a tourist company based in Italy. Lastly, Samsung is no stranger to the gaming world having been the major partner to the World Cyber Games since its inception.
Live streams will also be casted both in English and Italian.
