Jeong Jong "IMmvp" Hyeon is the new GSL champion, after countering his Terran opponent Lee Jung "MarineKing" Hoon's strategy in this morning's grand final. 4-0 in favour to IMmvp and a $44,480 down his pocket.
Playing in the same team as the second season's champion NesTea, mvp could once again shed pride over the Incredible Miracle team.
It was a different MarineKing we saw today. We did not see the mass marine heavy build from the man with a thousand nicknames. MVP took a very convincing win on the first map, Scrap Station, with a pure mech build. Being allowed to destroy the rocks at MarineKing's backdoor expansion, MVP was able to hold the lead throughout the game.
The second map, on Metalopolis, had MarineKing try out a fast hidden expansion, which was quickly scouted by MVP who put a thing or two together to know something unusual was up. MarineKing then felt too behind economically, and tried taking the gold expansion. MVP, with opportunity in hand, went for a drop in the "King"'s main. With a too little force to fight two battles at the same time, MarineKing was unable to withstand the forthcoming attack on the gold expansion.
The third game, on Xel'Naga Caverns, saw MVP do a dual-barracks Marine rush on MarineKing that was just held off by the Prime player. Both players then went in to expansion mode, but with MVP going for a mass-marine all-in attack on MarineKing's expansion that barely destroyed the Command Center. MVP shifted into a higher macro gear and could overthrow his opponent with too many marines.
Fourth, and what would prove to be the last game, saw MVP return to a more steady Marine, Tank style. With the tank force MVP could acquire map control on Blistering Sands. MarineKing's marine, marauder mix is not strong enough to overcome MVP's AoE army, and and loses the game after some failed move-outs and a bad decision in trying to base-race his opponent. Holding it off with all his home forces including his SCVs, MVP can force out a 'gg' from MarineKing to be crowned the GSL Season 4 champion.
