China's Pre-Season Invitational kicks off today

A new tournament begins today for the Chinese Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams, one that will send the best through to the EWC qualifiers.

China has been making its way into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang scene for a short time, but today we see a tournament beginning in the region that will take the top teams through into the official Esports World Cup China Qualifier event. The tournament, which began just a short time ago at the current time of writing, titled the 2024 MLBB CN Pre-season Invitational, features two stages – and features eight teams from the region, including some well-known names across the esports scene.

After the culmination of the first stage on March 31st, 2024, Stage 2 is set to kick off in April, as we head towards a May or June date for the Mid-Season Cup (MSC) China Qualifier. Mike Chu, the Head of the MOONTON Games China region had the following to say on the new servers and moving forward in the region,

We hope to create a stable competition system for domestic clubs quickly, establish competitive training opportunities for professional players, and bring the highest level of competition content for players who are looking forward to the launch and testing of MLBB CN in the short term. We will strive to provide professional opportunities to grassroots and professional Chinese players, showcasing the growth, strength, and potential of Chinese esports to an audience of over one billion global players; we will also bring a new mobile MOBA track to esports clubs and partners, working side by side with teams leading more than over 50 countries and regions to help our domestic partners establish greater globalisation opportunities.”

With the tournament already underway, these are the eight teams involved in Stage 1:

  • JD Gaming
  • KeepBest Gaming
  • LongLong Gaming
  • Mi Ya Gaming
  • NOVA Esports
  • Xianyou Gaming
  • MXG
  • MAX

It will be extremely interesting to see just what the Chinese teams are capable of when it comes to their domestic tournaments – and if they can grow and compete against some of the best MLBB teams from around the world in head-to-head battles.
