Week 2 of the Mobile Legends Professional League in the Philippines is on its way, and a few teams need to up their game after a poor Week 1.
While it may only be the first week out of eight, MPL PH Season 11 definitely had some major ups and downs this past weekend, with some teams really struggling to latch on to the current meta. For one team, following their brilliant M4 World Championships grand final, there was no holding back – but for the rest, the next few weeks are going to be of extreme importance is they want to make it through the playoffs and MSC 2023. With that in mind, here are some of our hot takes from Week 1 of MPL PH Season 11.
Blacklist seem different
Of course, with roster changes comes a period where teams need some time to rebuild and find their strengths again – and this seems to be happening to Blacklist International once again. Previously, in Season 9, the teams faltered without the duo of V33Wise, as they took a well-deserved break, and now they seem to be missing the edge they had, especially when they went up against ECHO. This could be something to watch in the coming weeks.
Breaking Omega
Another team that seemed to be struggling to find their footing is the once amazing Smart Omega Esports, as they head into a season without the “Ch4k-mamba”. This team saw some massive changes beyond that, but from watching them in week 1, there was a clear lack of playmaking happening – especially when their backs were against the wall.
Everything is quicker
While there were many games that went over the 20-minute mark in Week 1, we are definitely seeing teams trying to make their games end a lot faster. Every team is attempting to quickly convert objectives into pushing power, but this is not always working in their favouri. Turtle has been more highly contested, due to its buff, but with Lord on the map faster, teams have struggled to bring their power down behind it. Faster games mean a quicker power-spike, and certain heroes excel in that category.
The meta comes next
From what we saw in week one, barely anything in the previous meta is going to remain, although a few teams had promising performances with Beatrix and Karrie. However, through all this, Brody seems to be the rising marksman for Season 11, already showing up on multiple occasions and tearing apart opponents.
All of this depends completely on drafts and if the teams can grab exactly what they need, but it is only Week 1. Week 2, as seen above, is going be another brutal test of stamina and skill for the teams in MPL PH Season 11.
