The Group B underdog threat - MSC 2021

With the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2021 quickly approaching, we continue our look at the teams who will be fighting for the championship.

As the initial group stage of MSC 2021 nears, the teams are surely in deep preparations to fight it out for their share of the $150,000 prize pool on offer. After having to cancel the 2020 event, due to the continued global pandemic, MSC’s legendary comeback in 2021 has already seen some massive talking points – such as the two Resurgence squads being drawn in Group A. With that in mind, lets take a look at the next set of teams involved, Group B.

Group B

  • Legends - Indonesia
  • Todak - Malaysia
  • Cyber EXE - Vietnam

Although there are some really big-name teams and players in Group B, one of the greatest aspects of any game is the so called “dark horse” team, the underdog – and there is always a chance that the underdogs write their story on the MSC stage.

The roar of Legends

  • Antimage
  • Clover
  • Ferxiic
  • LJ
  • Rekt
  • Rexxy

EVOS Legends are a team of just that, legends. A team that is known throughout the MLBB community for their conquering of the M1 World Championship and taking the crown in MPL ID Season 4. However, recently the team returned to their perch atop the rankings as they added MPL ID Season 7 to their tally of tournament wins. This magnificent display was the culmination of a second-place regular season finish and relegation into the lower bracket by the same team which they beat in the grand finals.

Being no strangers to massive Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments, and one of two EVOS squads on the roster of teams, this event should prove to be a massive step for the Legends, if they continue in the same fashion as they did during the MPL ID season 7, but challengers are aplenty.

The mighty Swordfish

  • Ciku
  • Momo.
  • Moon
  • Moyy
  • Xray

The name Todak is one that is extremely well-known throughout the MLBB community, with a long history of brilliance in both their domestic league and the World Championship. The team’s crowning achievement is that of being the MPL MY/SG Season 6 champions but have a string of second and third place finishes under their belt too. Most recently, Todak were stumped in the grand finals of MPL MY S7 by none other than Resurgence (RSG) MY, but that does not mean they are not hungry for the win.

Ciku is one of the most aspiring players on the Todak squad, always looking to push forward and take every challenger on without fear. From their brilliance as an amateur squad in the past, Todak has quickly evolved into one of the powerhouse teams of MLBB and will certainly have a lot to prove at MSC 2021.

A Cyber threat

  • Gnart
  • NHO
  • Riley
  • Tit
  • Tntk
  • Yandere

Having no domestic MLBB league in Vietnam, it is hard to gauge exactly what Cyber EXE bring to the table, but the team have definitely shown their talent in their short lifespan. Having formed in only late December 2020, Cyber have already seen two huge victories going their way: the Player Mobile Legends Cup Season 3 and the 360mobi Championship Series Season 6. With “United We Stand” as a team slogan, Cyber are going to have to form a unified front to take on two of the biggest teams in MSC 2021.

Every team has to start somewhere, and for Cyber EXE, this could be the beginnings of a journey to the top. As one of a few underdog teams in the event, the Vietnamese squad will look to write their destiny into the history books of MLBB.

MSC 2021 is set to begin its initial group stages on June 7, leaving very little time for final preparations for the teams.
