Meanwhile, Anyone's Legend bow out of the competition in 5th to 8th place.
The fourth and final quarterfinal of the League of Legends (LoL) World Championship 2025 delivered an electrifying clash between two tournament heavyweights: back-to-back World Champions
T1 and the LoL Pro League (LPL) second seed,
Anyone's Legend.
In the end, it was T1 who claimed their semifinals berth, 3-2, after outlasting Anyone's Legend in an epic series that stretched both teams to their limits.
Different roads to the Knockout Stage
Anyone’s Legend emerged as one of the standout surprises of the Swiss Stage. They kicked off their campaign with a statement victory over the LCK’s second seed,
Hanwha Life Esports, and went on to shock the world by defeating the reigning back-to-back Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) champions,
Gen.G, in Round 2.
For T1, the road to the Knockout Stage was anything but smooth. They opened with a confident win against
FlyQuest, but stumbled in the following rounds, suffering losses to
CTBC Flying Oyster and
Gen.G. Refusing to let their run end there, the reigning World Champions bounced back with a dominant 2-0 over 100 Thieves, before sealing their quarterfinal spot with another clean 2-0 against
Movistar KOI, a hard-fought finish that secured their place among the final eight.
Here's how the matches went:
Game 1 was a tense back-and-forth, but T1 kept their composure and executed when it mattered most. Ryu “Keria” Min-seok’s Rakan was the backbone of their success, consistently setting up fights and creating space for his teammates. Despite AL’s best efforts to turn things around, T1’s discipline and precision proved too much. After a 35-minute showdown and an 18–5 kill lead, T1 smashed AL’s Nexus to take the opener in dominant fashion.
AL hit back in Game 2, zeroing in on Sang-hyeok “Faker” Lee’s Anivia and
Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong’s Draven, denying them any breathing room and dismantling T1’s team composition. T1 found a glimmer of hope late into the game after acing AL in the river, but a costly misplay in the jungle turned the tides, Faker’s attempt to stop AL from securing Baron backfired. With Baron buffs in hand, AL tightened their grip, capitalising on every mistake and extinguishing T1’s comeback hopes. After acing T1 in their own base with a 22–19 kill lead, Anyone’s Legend struck back to even the series.
Game 3 was a tense tug-of-war between T1 and Anyone’s Legend, with both sides pulling off moments of brilliance in a series of explosive team fights. The gold remained neck and neck for most of the match, but as the game reached its late stages, AL began to seize control of the map, outmanoeuvring T1 at every turn. After a gruelling 38-minute battle and a 19–11 kill lead, Anyone’s Legend stormed through T1’s base, shattering the Nexus to move to match point.
Backs against the wall, T1 struck back in Game 4, but Anyone’s Legend refused to make it easy. Both sides scrapped for every advantage, trading blows in chaotic team fights to gain the upper hand. However, T1 managed to secure the Mountain Soul, making it nearly impossible for AL to break through their defences. Gumayusi then executed a Quadrakill, allowing the team to close out the game. After a gruelling 38-minute showdown with a 24-13 kill lead, T1 shattered AL’s Nexus to take the fourth game, sending the series to Silver Scrapes.
In the fifth game decider, T1 were able to secure the most important objectives, namely the Atakhan and the Hextech Soul, making it difficult for AL to deal with them. However, AL continued tried to find scrappy plays and succeeded in some of them. However, it was T1 taking the Elder Drake that sealed the game, along with the Baron buff that followed. And after a thrilling 35-minute game, 17-10 kill lead, T1 did the impossible and destroyed AL's Nexus, to win the fifth game and the series.
With their win, T1 will move to the semifinals to face Top Esports in the semifinals in a bid to claim a spot at the Grand Finals.
Meanwhile, Anyone's Legend bow out of the competition in 5th to 8th place, taking home US$300,000.
