MAD Lions rounds up its roster for the 2023 season

MAD Lions brings in a former teammate, a rising talent, as well as one of the LEC's best support players.

Having lost their top, AD carry, and support players through the off-season, MAD Lions have gone big to rebuild their roster for the upcoming 2023 season. The first move was to bring back Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság who was with MAD during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Another inclusion to the roster was Kim "Chasy" Dong-hyeon, formerly of X7 Esports in the Northern League of Legends Championship.

With their AD carry and top lane positions now done with, MAD decided to add one final piece to the puzzle, Zdravets "Hylissang" Galabov from Fnatic. The Bulgarian support player has been one of the best in his position in the LEC for quite some time now, having been part of three LEC 1st All-Pro Teams as well as five 2nd All-Pro Teams appearances.

However, MAD fans will be happy to see the return of Carzzy, one of the original iterations of the squad that made its debut in the LEC. Carzzy was part of the team that managed to dominate the LEC last year, winning both the spring and summer split titles as well as getting a respectable third/fourth-place finish at their first Mid-Season Invitational. Carzzy was also responsible for bringing the team to their highest finish at the world championship in the quarterfinal playoffs.

Having left the organisation to form a 'superteam' with Team Vitality, it didn't quite pan out that way for Carzzy as Vitality fizzled out and failed to get out of the bottom half of the LEC table. The inclusion of Chasy will be an interesting one; he's not had any experience when it comes to the top leagues. The former DWG.KIA player does come from a good background of champions so it wouldn't be that difficult for him to acclimate to the LEC.

MAD's finalised roster will be looking to start its 2023 season on the right path. The team's run this season was abysmal by their standards, failing to replicate their 2021 form in any way. The team finished seventh and fourth respectively during the spring and summer splits. While they did manage to qualify for Worlds 2022, they didn't make it past the second round of the Play-In Stage, losing to Evil Geniuses for a spot in the group stage.

With the likes of Carzzy and Hylissang now added to the squad, MAD is looking to challenge for the top spot in the LEC. Chasy will also be one to watch as there isn't much information about what he is capable of in the top lane.

Finalised MAD Lions Roster:

Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon

Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla

Yasin “Nisqy” Dincer

Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság

Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov
