EU LCS Spring Split 2016: Week 7 recap

Missed the action from this past week on the EU LCS? Let us help you catch up with IEM Katowice right around the corner.

Here's a quick rundown of everything that happened this past week:

  • Team Vitality still look dominant, slowly but surely beating down the lower-tiered teams they faced this week.
  • H2K Gaming still don't look like themselves, despite going 2-0. Even more troubling was the shocking news of Konstantinos "FORG1VEN" Tzortziou's probable departure due to military conscription.
  • G2 Esports also doesn't look quite in their top form either, despite also going 2-0. They almost fell hard to another Kog'Maw comp, just getting by Origen.
  • Unfortunately for their fans, Origen and Fnatic both seem to be settling into their new middle-tier roles, handedly taking down their lower-ranked opponents but ultimately falling to the top teams they faced this week.
  • Seventh place is still up in the air between the bottom of the table teams.

And here's some highlights from our favorite matches this past week as well:

H2K vs Fnatic

Fnatic came out swinging, turning around an early 3v3 in the bot lane into a significant lead. But that early lead for Fnatic quickly evaporated due to H2K's superior map rotations and objective control. Fnatic's overall damage output and ability to teamfight kept them in it for a while, but it simply wasn't enough as H2K simply outmanuvered their scaling team comp.

Origen vs G2 Esports

This was almost a repeat story. G2 built a gigantic lead early off of OG's lane assignments, completely bullying Paul "sOAZ" Boyer's Quinn early and often. Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage kept OG in it with clutch Shockwaves on Orianna, but Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen's Kog'Maw wasn't enough against the tightly coordinated teamfighting of G2.

Unicorns of Love vs ROCCAT

In a split bereft of upsets, we got one this week with this match. Unicorns of Love's new Jungler Jean-Victor "loulex" Burgevin looked out of place, while ROCCAT's new Support Lewis "NoXiAK" Felix looked right at home. Even more remarkable than all of that was the success of Simon "freddy122" Payne on Rammus.
