The LPL champions Edward Gaming took on Korea’s best roster SK Telekom T1 in the MSI 2015 grand finals and snatched the championship in five games.

Ever since the IEM World Championship, League of Legends fans craved for international competition and the Mid-Season Invitational gave them that opportunity. Each champion of each circuit, plus the wild card invitational winners of Besiktas E-Sports club, flew the Tallahassee, Florida for four days of spirited competition. The prize - $175,000 in total.

The round robin stage went on as most experts predicted – a total dominance by LCK champions SKT. The Koreans went 5-0. Closely following them into the playoffs were Chinese juggernauts EDG (4-1) and then AHQ (3-2) and Fnatic (2-3).

Despite being dominant in the group stage, SKT struggled as the format switched to Bo5 series and the dreaded roster almost lost to European kings Fnatic. At the same time, Edward Gaming were ruthless in their own semi-final match, destroying AHQ with a blank score.

This set up a tense China vs Korean match-up, arguably the two strongest regions in the world at the moment. The teams traded blows back and forth and a final fifth game had to be played, and that ended up a historic one. Seeing Le Blanc open, Faker immediately went for her, only to find out that was a trap set up by EDG, who implemented the spell-shielding Morgana and Sivir in their composition.

SKT still put up a good fight until Faker made a mistake that had nothing to do with his champion pick – he go rooted, focused and evaporated, putting EDG in a 5v4 situation, the perfect opportunity for an end-game push.
