WCOOP Concludes with Big Pros Finishing With Big Scores

The 62 events of the 2011 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) hosted by PokerStars will be completed Monday after the Main Event and a couple two day events conclude. Every event surpassed their guarantee. There were over 118,2000 buy-ins that created nearly $39 million in total prize money. Many big named poker pros fared quite well in the series, much better than in previous years.

Some highlights from the final weekend:
  • The $10,300 Eight-Game event had a star-studded final table with Maria "femmeonfelt" Ho going out in sixth Daniel Negreanu going out in fifth, and Eugene Katchalov finishing in second for $140k.
  • The $5,200 main event drew 1,627 entrants easily beating the $5 million guarantee and will award over a million dollars to the top two finishers.
  • Nicolas “nicc” Chouity, who is a former EPT Monte Carlo winner, won the $2,100 Six-Handed Pot Limit Omaha event for over $150k.
  • Joe “ender555″ Ebanks took down the $1,050 Six-Handed Limit Hold’em event for over $60k.
  • Scott "BigRiskky" Clements finished second in the heads-up Pot Limit Omaha event settling for $26k.

Big name pros also making final tables over the weekend of WCOOP included Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, Alex Kravchenko, Bryn Kenney, James Akenhead, and noted tournament player Telefonkiosk.

The Player of the Series title is going down to a photo finish with three players in contention. Steve “gboro780″ Gross’ is still alive in the 2nd day of the WCOOP Main Event. If Gross takes first or second, he will overtake Joel Adam “2FLY2TILT” Gordon and Big_Nemo who are in a dead tie with 295 points but Gordon holding the tie breaker of which player has earned more money over the course of the series.
