Romanello wins WPT - Bratislava

Welshman Roberto Romanello took the chip lead into the final table of the World Poker Tour Bratislava main event at the Golden Vegas Casino in Slovakia and won it all for €140,685. The Full Tilt pro is now setting his sights on the live Triple Crown, having won the EPT Prague in December 2010 and setting his sights for the World Series of Poker.

Romanello won $846,180 for his December EPT win and has consistently been running deep in many live European tournaments. He was quite emotional upon winning the WPT title.

Romanello started playing poker six years ago after suffering serious sports injuries. He qualified for his first WPT two weeks after that. He has also played in the WSOP before and on his first visit in 2006 he came 312th in event 39 and won $38,759. In all he has cashed in seven events at the WSOP and once in WSOPE and has total earnings of $148,264. He is one of the most successful Welsh poker players of all time and has career earnings in excess of $1.7 Million.

Romanello kept his chip lead throughout the final table and defeated Austrian Mayu Roca, who collected €71,000 for second.
