Jungleman12 Dominates Ivey, Isildur1 and Hansen

A couple of days ago, Dan "jungleman12" Cates flew down to Melbourne, Australia for the Aussie Millions events. So while he may be "down under" presently, his game and results are as sharp as ever. Last night he played Phil Ivey, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Gus Hansen, beating them all for a combined $430k.

Both Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey took their medicine quickly and quit when things didn't go their way. Gus lost $119k in just 26 hands of $500/$1000 Cap PLO and called it a night. Phil Ivey played only 146 hands of $300/$600 PLO losing $240k and quitting.

The match with Viktor Blom involved a much more massive sample of 2,662 hands. There were numerous swings, stakes changes ($25/$50 and $50/$100) and table changes.

About midway through their session after Cates got lucky in several hands, Blom vented in chat:

Isildur1: u so bad its embarrassing
Isildur1: how can u win so much money
w00ki3z.: lol?
Isildur1: such a joke how u play
Isildur1: u win like 10 flipps in a row to
w00ki3z.: lol
w00ki3z.: so many things wrong with what you just said ;/
Isildur1: i play this session untill i bust u or u quit
w00ki3z.: kk lets play
Isildur1: lets get more tbls

Blom recovered some of his losses and his composure later apologizing for berating Cates. He called it a night after losing a little more than $60k.

Cates has now won over $800k in the first three weeks of 2011 and is poised to repeat as one of the top winners, as he was in 2010.

Finally, there is excitement at the prospect of many of the high stakes pros that flew to Australia for Aussie Millions to be stopping back through Macau on their way back home and re-igniting the massive high stakes games that occurred in late 2010. Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, John Juanda would be repeat visitors, while Dan Cates, Peter Jetten and others would be new to the Macau games. It could make for a very interesting time in the ultra-high stakes poker world.
