Chris "moorman1" Moorman established a new record by winning his 11th Triple Crown victory this week. The Triple Crown award was established years ago by Pocketfives to acknowledge online tournament players who won three sizable tournaments within one week.
On January 11th, Moorman started things off by taking down the $300 buy-in UB.com $50,000 Guarantee, where he overcame a 157 player field to collect the $15,000 first place prize. Then on January 18th, Moorman took down both the PokerStars $50 Rebuy ($13,821) and the $150 buy-in Full Tilt $60,000 Guarantee ($18,637) to complete the task.
Moorman reflected on his latest achievement, “It’s been a long time since I won my last one and so it was a bit of a shock that I actually managed to close it out on the last possible day this time.”
Chris Moorman became one of the "Brunson 10" in September 2009, recognizing his impact in online poker and bright future for the 25 year-old English player.
Doyle Brunson commented, “Moorman reminds me a lot of me, except for the British accent. He’s a poker natural, a legend in the making, and that’s why I’ve handpicked him to be the next member of The Brunson 10, my new team of elite poker players who truly are young legends of the game.”
Moorman seems rejuvenated by the Triple Crown victory and sits in 15th in the Yearly Pocketfives leaderboard, a competition he won back in 2009. Moorman has won over $6.2 million from online tournaments since July 2006.
“I’m back enjoying poker and enjoying the challenge of the ever-changing game. I wasn’t enjoying it that much and was getting too frustrated when I lost, so I definitely didn’t play my A-game for a while last year. …just needed to cut my volume for a while and regroup; I came back a stronger player for it,” commented Moorman.
