The biggest announcements and trailers from Nintendo Direct September 2026

Everything you missed from September’s Nintendo Direct in one place. 

This week, Nintendo held a 45 minute-long Nintendo Direct livestream to show off upcoming games for Nintendo Switch 2 games coming out throughout the rest of 2026! In a jam-packed stream, we got major game reveals like Metroid Ravenous and Kirby and the World Beyond.

Here are all the biggest news and announcements you missed from September 2026’s Nintendo Direct:

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is officially launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 December, 2026. The game’s expansion, Ascendance, is still set for release in 2027. 

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on 8 April, 2027. Its prequel, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is also available on the system today. 

Hyrule Warriors–Age of Calamity: Definitive Edition

This Musou game based on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is launching on the Nintendo Switch, along with a new Calamity mode. 

Meccha Chameleon

Meccha Chameleon is officially launching on Nintendo Switch later today. 

Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass

New accessories and Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Pokopia later this year, including Skitty. 

Star Fox update

A new free update is adding four-player online battles to Star Fox on 29 September, 2026. Additionally, Star Fox Adventures is launching in the Nintendo Classics catalogue. 

More games coming to Nintendo Switch 

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and its Song of the Past expansion are coming to Nintendo Switch, along with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. 

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

The new Professor Layton game officially launches on 10 December, 2026.

Yo-Kai Watch 2: Haunted Domain

The Yo-Kai Watch series is making a major comeback.

Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

In the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for Pikmin 4, you can now control Oatchi with your voice and praise the creature with multiple new commands. A new game mode called Dandori Academy is also in the works. The game launches on 12 November, 2026.

Onyx: The Dark Grip

The Silent Hill 2 remake developer Bloober Team is making a new 2D horror game called Onyx: The Dark Grip. The game launches in 2027.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3–Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Shimmer is coming to Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition as a new hero, launching on 3 December, 2026.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea

Atlantis: The Lost Empire's Milo is coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley in this paid expansion.

Stage Fright

The Overcooked developers’ new co-op game Stage Fright is launching in 2027. 

Ondeh Ondeh: Kaya’s Tasty Tale

This game, based heavily on Southeast Asian/Malaysian desserts called “kuih,” is a platformer launching in 2027.

Lego Batman: Legacy of Dark Knight

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is officially launching on Nintendo Switch platforms on 18 September, 2026. 

Kirby Air Riders

Kirby Air Rider is getting new Amiibos with new vehicles and accessories.

Cairn

Don’t Nod’s climbing game Cairn is launching on Nintendo Switch in early 2027.

Resident Evil remakes

The remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, launch on 16 October, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2. 

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Lara Croft’s classic adventure is launching on 12 February, 2027 on Nintendo Switch platforms. 

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Nintendo’s classic sports minigame franchise is back on the Nintendo Switch, with a brand-new sequel. This time around, players can try out golf, bowling and more, on 22 October, 2026. 

Metroid Ravenous

An all-new 2D Metroid game called Metroid Ravenous is officially launching on 28 January, 2027, bringing Samus to another alien environment where it looks like she’s going to have to devour her enemies to stay alive.

Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World is officially launching a new update on Nintendo Switch 2, with new game modes for players to try out reminiscent of Super Mario Kart. The update is out today.

Mega Man: Dual Override

The upcoming Mega Man platformer game launches in Spring 2027, with new Amiibos in the works for Mega Man and Protoman.

Eternal Anima

This fantasy RPG launches on 4 March, 2026.

Danganropa 2x2

This game features a new story on top of the classic, launching on Nintendo Switch with a Slayhem mode. The game launches on 14 January, 2027 on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. 

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Season Pass 3 DLC for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves welcomes characters from Tokyo Revengers.

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection

This collection of classic Metal Slug games launches in 2027. 

Yu-Gi-Oh: Tag Force

This Yu-Gi-Oh game launches on 16 February, 2026 on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United

This remake of the third Romancing SaGa game is launching on Nintendo Switch platforms on 16 February, 2027. 

Even more games coming to Nintendo Switch consoles

Persona 4 Revival

Persona 4 Revival is officially launching on Nintendo Switch platforms, along with Persona 6.

Kirby and the World Beyond

Nintendo revealed a 3D Kirby video game at this week’s Nintendo Direct, allowing players to explore an open world as the titular pink creature. The game launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027.
