The first weapon showcases are starting to put Ascendance's combat changes into focus.
Capcom is giving hunters a closer look at the new combat options coming to Monster Hunter Wilds, with a new series of trailers showing how the expansion's Boost Bracer changes each weapon.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance was first announced during Summer Game Fest on 5 June 2026. The expansion introduces Master Rank alongside new areas, monsters, and combat mechanics, including the Boost Bracer.
Capcom first introduced the Boost Bracer on 2 September, explaining how hunters can build energy through aggressive attacks before activating Boost for new combos, enhanced attacks, and other weapon-specific actions. The Great Sword was the first weapon to receive its own Boosted Action breakdown later that day, followed by the Bow on 3 September.
What are the Bow Boosted Actions in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance?
The Bow is the latest weapon to get its dedicated Boosted Action breakdown, with Capcom releasing the trailer on 3 September.
While Boosted, the Bow can “blast away at close range” while also gaining “boosted arrow firepower”. Capcom describes the weapon as “an expert at all ranges”, with the trailer showing the Bow using its added firepower both up close and from a distance. The Bow follows the Great Sword as Capcom continues rolling out individual looks at how Ascendance changes each of Monster Hunter Wilds' 14 weapon types.
How does the Boost Bracer work in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance?
The Boost Bracer gives every weapon type access to its own Boosted Actions.
Hunters build Boost Bracer energy by staying aggressive with their attacks. Once enough energy has been stored, Boost can be activated through a special Boost Driver attack or another unique action depending on the weapon. “Boost enables abilities such as new combos and enhanced attacks,” Capcom explained. How that power-up works varies between weapons, with each receiving different attacks and actions built around the new system.
What are the Great Sword Boosted Actions in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance?
The Great Sword was the first weapon featured in Capcom's Boosted Action breakdown series.
Its Boost Driver lets hunters fling themselves forward, while Boost also adds explosive charged slashes and the ability to chain together offset attacks. Capcom later highlighted the Great Sword again as it continued promoting the Boosted Action video series, with more weapon showcases still to come.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance releases in 2027.
