PlayStation's FlexStrike fight stick delayed ahead of Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls launch

PlayStation says it needs more time to put the "finishing touches" on its first-ever wireless fight stick.

PlayStation has pushed back the release of the FlexStrike, the upcoming wireless fight stick. According to an update released on Tuesday (14 July) on the official PlayStation Blog, the fight stick has been delayed because of "unexpected production delays."

"We're working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we're taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product," the post on the PlayStation Blog read. "We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches."

What is the FlexStrike wireless fight stick?

The FlexStrike wireless fight stick is the first fight stick designed by PlayStation. It was first introduced during the June 2025 State of Play, before later being displayed at Arc System Works' booth during Evo 2025.

According to a PlayStation Blog published last year, the FlexStrike is Sony Interactive Entertainment's first-ever fight stick controller, designed for both PlayStation 5 and PC players. It can connect via a wired USB-C connection or wirelessly through PlayStation Link, the company's ultra-low latency wireless technology.

The controller features mechanical switch buttons and a custom-designed digital stick, alongside tool-less swappable restrictor gates in square, circle, and octagon configurations. These, together with the included PlayStation Link USB adapter, are stored inside built-in storage compartments within the controller. PlayStation also includes a sling carry case that can hold the fight stick, its accessories, and the included USB-C cable, while its built-in rechargeable battery makes it easy to bring to tournaments or local gatherings.

On PS5, the FlexStrike also supports simultaneous PlayStation Link connections with a Pulse Elite wireless headset or Pulse Explore wireless earbuds using a single USB adapter, allowing players to enjoy ultra-low latency audio and voice chat while playing. Two FlexStrike controllers can also be paired through a single PlayStation Link USB adapter for local multiplayer.

Other features include an ergonomic design with angled surfaces and a non-slip base, support for keeping a DualSense wireless controller connected at the same time for menu navigation, and the full suite of DualSense game inputs, including a touchpad. Players can also customise directional inputs using a built-in lever mode switch or prevent accidental button presses during matches with a dedicated lock button. Once paired, pressing the PS button on the fight stick can also wake a connected PS5 console.

Interestingly, despite being displayed at Arc System Works' Evo 2025 booth last year, the FlexStrike appears unlikely to launch in time for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which releases on 6 August.

When is FlexStrike releasing?

The FlexStrike fight stick was originally scheduled to launch on 6 August, which coincides with the release date of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Based on the update PlayStation recently released, the wireless fight stick "will launch at a later date," though PlayStation did not specify a new release date and only said it would share more information soon.

How can I track my FlexStrike fight stick order?

According to PlayStation, those who have pre-ordered the wireless fight stick from direct.playstation.com can still track their order through the website and "will receive communications regarding their order." Meanwhile, those who ordered through a different retailer should receive updates directly from their respective retailer instead.
