Persona 6 is finally confirmed, but Atlus isn't saying much yet

Is that it? A teaser, a few details, and plenty of questions.

After years of speculation, Atlus has officially unveiled Persona 6 during the Xbox Games Showcase on 8 June 2026. The next mainline entry in the long-running role-playing game series is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

While fans finally received confirmation that the game exists, Atlus stopped short of sharing a release date or detailed gameplay information during its debut reveal. The announcement marks the first major look at a new numbered Persona title since the release of Persona 5 in 2016.

Persona 6

Release date: TBD

Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Developer: Atlus

What was shown in the Persona 6 reveal trailer?

Atlus debuted a brief trailer for Persona 6, but nothing much was revealed in it. The trailer teased a series of mysterious and unsettling images, from what appeared to be a sea of statues to a beheaded monument, before ending with the Persona 6 logo reveal. As for concrete details, Atlus had little more to share.

Alongside the reveal, the publisher described the title as an entirely new standalone story featuring a fresh cast of characters. According to the trailer's accompanying description, Persona 6 will be a “a bold, new standalone story blending heartfelt daily life and new characters with pulse-pounding, supernatural adventure.” No further details about the game's setting, combat systems, or release window were announced during the presentation.

What do we know about Persona 6 so far?

The official reveal comes after a week of reports and leaks surrounding the project. Before the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, concept art allegedly connected to Persona 6 surfaced online as reported by IGN. The images featured a blond male character alongside a female character with black and red hair. The leaked material quickly spread across social media and gaming forums ahead of the showcase before it was quickly removed by Sega.

On top of that, prior to the reveal, discussions surrounding Persona 6 largely stemmed from industry insiders and leakers (thanks Eurogamer), who had suggested that the game would launch on multiple platforms rather than remaining exclusive to PlayStation systems. The Xbox Games Showcase announcement confirmed those reports, with Persona 6 confirmed to release on Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

When is Persona 6 releasing?

Atlus has not announced a release date for Persona 6. The publisher also did not provide a release window during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, meaning fans will need to wait for future updates to learn when the next chapter of the Persona series will arrive.

While Persona 6 remains without a launch date, Atlus did provide an update on another entry in the franchise. The company confirmed that the Persona 4 remake is currently in development and is scheduled to release in February 2027.
