Forza Horizon 6's AI Drivatar bowie knife99 gains online infamy for terrorising players in-game

There’s a villain terrorising the streets of Japan, and its name is bowie knife 99.

An unexpected legend has risen among the ranks of Forza Horizon 6 players. Players have flocked online in the weeks since launch to complain about a specific chaotic AI Drivatar terrorising their player sessions, named bowie knife99. Drivatars are essentially NPCs who mimic real-life player behaviour in order to add more challenge to someone else's playthrough.

However, one Drivatar is not like the others. Bowie knife99 has made a name for itself by going wildly off-course in order to ram into its chosen target, popping out of nowhere to win races, and generally sowing seeds of mass chaos within the community.

The Drivatar has become a universal nuisance at this point, and is now known as the unexpected villain of Forza Horizon 6.

Who is bowie knife99 in Forza Horizon 6?

Forza Horizon 6 players have been discussing the arrival of a sudden in-game threat over the last few weeks; a Drivatar going by the name bowie knife99. In-game Drivatars are based on real-life player accounts, and operate by simply mimicking their behaviour as random encounters, but no actual human being has come out to take responsibility for owning the bowie knife99 moniker just yet.

Additionally, bowie knife99’s Xbox username is currently set to private, which means that players have little knowledge of the Drivatar’s real-life inspirations. However, over the last week or so, bowie knife99’s Drivatar has been causing abject chaos in player sessions worldwide–seemingly appearing everywhere all at once, and in the most unpredictable ways too.

For some players, bowie knife99 only appears to cause terror and destruction, either by ramming its cars into players unexpectedly or causing sabotage:

For other players, bowie knife99 shows up to win races out of left field:

Now, bowie knife99 has become a viral meme akin to Elden Ring’s Let Me Solo Her.

Even the official Xbox account has responded to recent events:

Unlike Let Me Solo Her, however, bowie knife99 isn’t a heroic figure who appears when it is most needed. This Drivatar more closely resembles a terrifying villain from a slasher flick, coming into existence only to terrorise the player when they’re least expecting it.

Drive safe, Forza Horizon 6 players–and beware the legend of bowie knife99.
