How many people are playing Forza Horizon 6?
Forza Horizon 6 has surpassed six million players, as confirmed by the game's official social media. This number is likely combined from those who purchased the game on Steam, Xbox, as well as those accessing the game via Xbox Game Pass.
This major milestone has come as a surprise to many, particularly given that racing games are generally considered a more niche genre. Its success now stands on par with several of the year’s top releases, which includes some of the biggest game franchises.
For comparison, Resident Evil: Requiem attracted more than five million players within its first five days. Nintendo’s cosy hit Pokemon Pokopia has sold over four million copies, while Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert reportedly surpassed five million sales in under a month.
The latest underwater survival hit, Subnautica 2, also posted impressive figures, with over a million sold in just hours. It also reportedly sold more than four million copies in under a week, according to analyst Rhys Elliot.
What milestones has Forza Horizon 6 achieved so far?
Forza Horizon 6, the sixth instalment in the franchise’s open-world racing series, takes players on a successful trip to Japan. The game received perfect scores from IGN and Eurogamer, alongside numerous 9/10 reviews from other outlets. Its strong reception is also reflected in player feedback, with the game currently holding a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.
Since release, player numbers have continued to climb, with the game reaching a peak of 270,000 concurrent players just two days after launch. In fact, its popularity has continued to grow, with another record peak set yesterday at more than 284,000 concurrent players–standing at third place on Steam's most-played charts at the time of writing.
This milestone also cements Forza Horizon 6 as Xbox’s most successful first-party launch to date, surpassing the performance of 2021 shooter Halo Infinite.
These achievements are even more impressive considering the game suffered a major leak 10 days before its Early Access launch on 15 May. Despite pirates gaining access to the full game files well ahead of release, Forza Horizon 6 has still delivered a groundbreaking launch.
