Makers of Silent Hill 2 remake reveal Layers of Fear 3

Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.

Horror fans, it’s time to go back inside the walls. The devs behind Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team, have officially unveiled Layers of Fear 3. The announcement was made during a special 10th anniversary video presentation for the franchise on 15 February (SGT),

The announcement came at the end of the celebratory stream, where CEO Piotr Babieno thanked players for keeping the franchise “close to your hearts for all these years” before introducing the sequel.

Layers of Fear 3 teaser hints at ghosts, guilt, and unfinished business

The teaser opens in a grand, shadowy room where a man recites The Sick Rose by William Blake. Behind him hang unsettling paintings: one of a woman, seemingly the “sick rose,” and another of what appears to be a humanoid figure afflicted by illness, its mouth sewn shut. A ghostly presence drifts past before one of the paintings crashes to the floor.

The man dismisses the disturbance as the work of his “little friend”, who “tries to help” but hasn’t quite mastered the afterlife. The clip ends with a Valentine’s Day warning to viewers as he turns over a sand timer. On screen, the tagline reads: “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.”  There is currently no release window or confirmed platforms for Layers of Fear 3.

The series first began with 2016’s Layers of Fear, followed by 2021’s Layers of Fear 2, and a remake released in 2023. Across its entries, the franchise has built a reputation for psychological horror, unreliable narrators and environments that shift and distort around the player.

The reveal comes amid a high-profile run for Bloober Team, which recently launched its remake of Silent Hill 2 for Konami. Alongside its horror heavyweights, the studio also has multiple projects in development, including titles from its subsidiary Broken Mirror Games and a Nintendo Switch-exclusive project currently known as Project M.

Layers of Fear 3 may have been revealed already but most of it remains firmly in the shadows. However, the door has been opened, and players will have to wait to see what may step through.
