HP merges HyperX and OMEN, reveals new high-end gaming laptop at CES 2026

The move sees HP streamline its gaming portfolio while introducing new laptops, monitors and controllers aimed at competitive players.

HP has announced a major shake-up to its gaming lineup at CES 2026, confirming that OMEN and HyperX are now coming together under a single master brand: HyperX.

The move was revealed on 5 January in Las Vegas, and comes alongside a slate of new gaming hardware aimed squarely at high-end PC players and competitive gamers.

Under the new structure, HyperX will cover HP’s full gaming ecosystem, spanning laptops, monitors, peripherals and software. HP says the goal is to offer a more unified experience across devices, rather than treating OMEN and HyperX as separate product families.

The announcement was made as part of HP’s CES 2026 showcase, with several new products revealed, including a flagship gaming laptop, an ultrawide OLED monitor and HP’s first Xbox-licensed arcade controller, with the full press release published on the official HP website.

New HyperX hardware targets performance, displays, and competitive play

The HyperX OMEN MAX 16 is HP's most powerful gaming laptop to date.

Leading the hardware push is the HyperX OMEN MAX 16, which HP is positioning as its most powerful gaming laptop to date. The system is built around up to 300W of total platform power and can be configured with Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors or next-generation AMD Ryzen AI processors, alongside up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU.

HP is also highlighting a redesigned OMEN Tempest Cooling Pro system, which introduces a third internal fan and automated Fan Cleaner technology designed to maintain performance under sustained load. The laptop features a high-polling rate keyboard offering up to four times faster polling compared to previous generations, as well as a 16-inch OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, and up to 500 nits of brightness.

Alongside the laptop, HP unveiled the HyperX OMEN OLED 34, a 34-inch ultrawide gaming monitor built on next-generation V-stripe QD-OLED panel technology. The display runs at a 21:9 WQHD resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate and a quoted 0.03ms response time. Features aimed at creators and multitaskers include 100W USB-C power delivery, a built-in KVM switch, and HyperX ProLuma colour tuning. The monitor also includes burn-in protection via HyperX OLED CoreProtect. and ships with a three-year limited warranty.

The HyperX Clutch Tachi is HP’s first Xbox-licensed arcade controller.

Rounding out the hardware announcements is the HyperX Clutch Tachi, HP’s first Xbox-licensed arcade controller. The leverless controller uses magnetic switches with TMR sensors for fast inputs and supports extensive customisation through HyperX’s NGENUITY software, including button mapping, rapid trigger adjustments and actuation tuning. HP is also leaning into physical customisation, with support for 3D-printed button shapes and interchangeable top plates.

Beyond traditional hardware, HP also showcased an in-development HyperX gaming headset created in partnership with Neurable. The prototype uses EEG-based neurotechnology and AI to interpret brain activity in real time, with the aim of helping players improve focus and accuracy during gameplay.

The HyperX OMEN MAX 16, HyperX OMEN OLED 34 and HyperX Clutch Tachi are all expected to launch in Spring 2026, with pricing to be announced closer to release.
