The new scenario will go live on 6 November.
A new scenario is being added to Umamusume: Pretty Derby this coming 6 November. Titled “Unity Cup (Shine On, Team Spirit!)”, this will be the second permanent career scenario added to the game since its global release last July.
The news was announced through a video released by Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s official social media accounts.
Unity Cup will release in the second leg of the half-anniversary celebrations
The Unity Cup scenario will introduce a new NPC in the stern and intimidating Riko Kashimoto, who is a URA executive and will become the acting chairman in the absence of chairman Yayoi Aikikawa, who will go on a long-term business trip overseas.
The Unity Cup is a competition that was once held in Tracen Academy, but was lost to the tides of time until its revival. Instead of focusing on an individual racer however, Unity Cup will focus on the spirit of camaraderie through team participation.
Based on data gathered from the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, here are the updates players can soon look forward to:
- An increased ceiling across all stats
- Unique scenario effects for scenario link characters, who are:
- Taiki Shuttle
- Matikanefukukitaru
- Haru Urara
- Rice Shower
What do you need to do in the Unity Cup?
The new scenario will have trainers participate in the Unity Cup every six months in a career run, where you must field five teams of racers similar to Team Trials. Each team will consist of your trainee, your Support Cards, and other members that you will recruit throughout your career.
The Unity Cup will consist of five races: a Sprint, a Mile, a Medium, a Long, and a Dirt race. Trainers will need to win as many races as possible, as your performance will directly affect the amount of stat increases you will receive as the competition concludes.
Additionally, training facility level-ups are different in this scenario. As opposed to the URA Finale, the facilities will improve based on your team's overall ranking for the stat the training facility is affiliated with.
Stats will also play a massive role in the performance of your teams, as trainers will receive a special skill based on your highest team stat rank in Senior Year. The special skill will provide a variety of buffs during races that will scale off of its related rank.
Lastly, a new mechanic will be introduced through this scenario: The Soul Explosion. This mechanic works like this: during training a flame icon will appear beside a stat that will charge your teammate’s “Soul Meter” when selected. Once it is full, it will trigger a Soul Explosion for that training.
The Soul Explosion is very similar to the friendship training in URA Finale, and will provide a boost in the specific stat it is highlighting, plus additional hints for discounted skills. However, unlike the limitations of friendship training, Soul Explosion can be triggered in any stat you want, given that the trainee with the active mechanic is at the stat you want to train.
If you don’t feel like diving into the Unity Cup scenario right away, don’t fret! The URA Finale scenario will remain playable for trainers looking for a more casual career challenge. All scenarios will still remain playable even with the addition of new ones in the future, though trainees trained in the current scenario will be much stronger, of course.
