Marvel Rivals has introduced an even more chaotic version of Giant-Sized Brain Blast.
NetEase Games has unveiled a brand-new game mode coming to Marvel Rivals, but it might look familiar to anyone who’s already playing through Season 2: Hellfire Gala, as it’s a new take on the previous Giant-Sized Brain Blast mode. The new game mode launches on 9 May, 2025, following a patch released today (8 May, 2025), which also adds some nice quality-of-life changes and bug fixes.
Here’s a trailer for the new mode:
Marvel Rivals unveils Giant-Sized Hive Mind game mode
NetEase Games has unveiled Giant-Sized Hive Mind, a brand-new game mode that doubles down on Marvel Rivals’ already chaotic gameplay. This is functionally a mash-up of two previously-released game modes: Giant-Sized Brain Blast and Clone Rumble, allowing players to have multiples of a single hero on each team, with big heads to boot.
Marvel RIvals’ Twitter/X account describes the mode as such:
Those big brain plays just got a whole lot bigger in our Giant-Size Hive Mind game mode! Channel the power of a collective consciousness on May 9, 2025 and embrace ultimate chaos on the battlefield to become one. Bigger plays–same mind, and double the fun!
Giant-Size Hive Mind will be played in the Ninomaru, Tokyo 2099 map as a Conquest mode. The trailer above gives players a taste of just how chaotic the game is, with squads of Adam Warlocks and Hulks going up against squads of Lokis. Players will be able to vote for which hero they want to play as. The mode launches on 9 May, with a Round 2 kicking off on 16 May to grant players positions on the mode’s leaderboards.
This week’s 8 May patch for Marvel Rivals also adds summer-themed “Sunshine Raccoon” and “Sunshine Squirrel” cosmetic bundles for Rocket Raccoon and Squirrel Girl, respectively. Additionally, the emote and spray wheel has also been refurbished, with both cosmetics now split into two separate wheels.
A new quick-equip feature has finally been added, allowing players to equip emotes and sprays instantly upon acquisition. Players can also set their current spray wheel to be shared across all heroes. Hero portraits also now reflect their currently-equipped costumes.
The 8 May patch also adds a few bug fixes for Marvel Rivals, which you can read up on here.
