NetEase Games announces official Marvel Rivals tournament
Five regions globally will duke it out in Ignite, an official esports tournament being held for Marvel Rivals. Teams from the Americas, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), China, Asia, and Oceania will compete in the hero shooter, which launched last December on all platforms.
The competition begins this month, with players competing for a slice of the over US$3 million total prize pool. Ignite will then culminate with its grand finals this November, where competitors will be able to share a US$1 million prize. The tournament’s details and official rules have not been released just yet.
Marvel Rivals is in the midst of its second season of content, Hellfire Gala. This season introduced Emma Frost as a playable character and a new map set in Krakoa. Ultron is also expected to debut as a playable character in Season 2.5, which is expected towards the end of May.
The hero shooter’s latest patch, released on 30 April, delivered a series of buffs to Strategists while nerfing characters like Spider-Man and Captain America. The second part of Marvel Rival’s Giant-Size Brain Blast event is also set to debut in the coming days.
