A recent Capcom presentation has brought us new details for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Capcom held a presentation this week to show off more gameplay details for Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest mainline addition to the seminal Monster Hunter franchise. During the presentation, Capcom confirmed the return of familiar monsters like Nerscylla and Gore Magala, while also revealing a new monster and details for its second open beta.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ second open beta unveiled
Capcom has released a sixth trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, the open-world sequel set to take fans of the franchise by storm. This trailer unveiled returning monsters for the new game, but it's not all good news for arachnophobes; one of them is a big ol’ spider.
Nerscylla (the big ol' spider) and Gore Magala are returning in Monster Hunter Wilds, but there is a new monster to be spotted in this trailer, too. Meet Hirabami, a frosty leviathan that can float like a bee and sting like a bee. Take the latter part literally, as this creature's tail comes with crab-like pincers poised to cause some real damage.
Hirabami was unveiled along with the Iceshard Cliffs biome, which joins three previously-revealed locations: Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin. Capcom also confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature a photo mode at launch, which will surely satisfy more photo-savvy hunters.
During the presentation, Capcom also outlined more details for Monster Hunter Wilds’ second open beta. This beta will run in two phases. The first phase runs from 6 to 7 February, while the second runs from 13 to 16 February. Players will be able to participate in cross-platform multiplayer, and carry over their characters to the full game - but their progress will be reset at launch.
Those who already tried out Monster Hunter Wilds’ previous open beta might find it worthwhile to jump back in this month. This version of the beta comes with a new advanced quest featuring the game’s flagship monster, Arkveld, along with a Gypceros hunt. All content featured in the previous beta will also return.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches on 28 February, 2025.
