MultiVersus finally launches… for the second time?
The final week of May has arrived, which means that we’re one step closer to gaming Christmas - or rather we would be if E3 hadn’t been cancelled for the umpteenth time this year. Still, there’s always Summer Game Fest and the odd showcase or two to look forward to if you’re excited for upcoming games. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Xbox does with its showcase after the fairly disastrous year of PR it has had.
Until then, here’s what we’re playing and watching this week.
What are we playing?
After getting taken offline in 2023, the crossover platform fighting game MultiVersus relaunches on May 28 with a host of new characters, maps and modes in tow. Joker from DC Comics and Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th are just two of the game’s new fighters, with more to come in future seasonal updates.
Devotion developer Red Candle Games’ newest game is a beautiful 2D action-platformer called Nine Sols (May 29). Set in a world of eastern fantasy, the game tasks players with slaying the rulers of a forsaken realm, referred to as the 9 Sols. A little later on, EA Sports F1 24 also launches on June 1. This year’s F1 game comes with the first major update to the F1 Career mode since 2016, too.
What are we watching?
This week, we’ve got our eye on two TV series. The first is My Adventures With Superman Season 2 which is already two episodes in this week, offering a unique take on the iconic DC superhero with more YA-leaning themes and stories. This season, Clark and his friends are going to look for his missing cousin: Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl.
The six-episode psychological thriller Eric also debuts on Netflix on May 30, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as a puppeteer in 1980s New York whose son goes missing. As his volatile behaviour alienates him from his friends and family and drives him into substance abuse, he becomes convinced that he can reunite with his son using a seven-foot-tall puppet named Eric.
