4 More Teams Advance in EMS Qualifier Cup #2

This past weekend, we saw another Qualifier Cup and another four teams who have made it through to the ESL Major Series VIII. After several rounds of single-elimination matches, Voodoo Festers, mortal Fraternity, YOUMADBRAH?, and Danish Dynamite came out on top as the four qualifying teams.

Once again, a wide range of international teams competed for four more spots in the EMS. The first American and Australian teams, plus many returning teams from the previous Qualifier Cup #1, attempted to qualify in the second of four preliminary cups. In the end, though, it was Sweden's Voodoo Festers (VFS), Germany's mortal Fraternity (mF), Danish Dynamite (DnkD), and international team YOUMADBRAH? (YOU) who claimed the four spots.

Voodoo Festers had nearly qualified in the first cup, but were knocked out in the deciding match against Team Empire. They came back and showed that it wasn't just luck that got them so far in the brackets. Danish Dynamite was another returning team; they defeated fellow Danish team wake up bro - the very team who knocked them out of Qualifier Cup #1 - in the match to decide who would qualify. This is the second week in a row that wake up bro has made it to the Top 8. Expect them to come back with a vengeance in Cup #3 and give themselves a chance to qualify again.

As first-time participants and one of the biggest names in the Qualifier Cup, Online-Kingdom made it to the final round, but were halted by YOUMADBRAH?, a team made up of GameReplays TS3 Invitational champions Kebap, Sn3yking, and twiSta, plus two players from TS-Gaming. Also expect Online-Kingdom to make it far in the brackets of the next qualifier.

Ludus Novicius from Australia and 702 from the United States were the sole representatives of their respective nations. Obviously, high ping is a turnoff for non-Europeans trying to compete in the EMS, but it didn't scare these two teams away. Both were knocked out by teams that eventually went on to qualify.

It was a bit surprising that FnaticMSI did not compete in Qualifier Cup #2. They just recently lost to Dirty Minds in the HoNLive.org Tournament Grand Finals, but are definite favorites to qualify if they do participate in one of the upcoming Cups.

EMS Season VIII Qualifier Cup #3 is happening this Sunday, February 20th at 15:00 CET, with check-in at 14:30.
