Dota 2 What we are watching

What to watch this week in Dota 2

What should you be watching in the Dota 2 scene this week? Tier 3 and 4 have a few things going on and is always a place to keep watch for rising stars.

Team Falcons made a lower bracket comeback to sweep BetBoom Team in the grand finals of ESL One Birmingham 2024.  This was the MENA based team's third tournament victory claimed this year, and the fourth grand finals that they fought in –  and it’s only the end of April.

With that done and PGL Wallachia Season 1 not beginning until the end of next week – Friday, May 10th to be exact, there is a bit of a lull in the top tier Dota 2 events action.

So we suggest you take a look at some of the Tier 3 and 4 events going on this week.

  • April Madness: Dota 2 Championship started yesterday and is an online event for SEA and China. It will run from April 28-May 13th as eight teams from the two regions compete for the lion's share of the $20,000 prize pool.

  • European Pro League Season 18 begins today, April 29th. Twelve teams from Europe and CIS will be competing for a piece of the $20,000 prize pool. The championship team will be crowned on May 12th. Teams include NAVI, Rest Farmers, MOUZ, B8 and Win1 are competing so there is a good chance to see some veterans, new stars and good action.

  • RES Regional Series: LATAM #2 has been underway since April 19th and will be concluding this week on May 4th. There are only six teams remaining and the playoffs kick off on May 2nd, so it will be the perfect time to catch the excitement. $50,000 is on the line in South America.

  • Kobolds Rave 2 is also getting ready to wrap up. This SEA/CN event will end on the 9th of May with the playoffs beginning on May 4th. There is $90,000 at stake and quite a few eye catching players participating.

The Tier 1 action will continue next week, just after most things in the lower tiers finish, so everything lines up perfectly.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 dates and format

PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified "Swiss System" group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.

At the end of the group play, the top eight teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs stage will be played in a double elimination bracket, best-of-three series with the grand finals being a best-of-five battle for the title.
