Team Liquid end Gaimin Gladiators’ BetBoom Dacha Dubai run

Team Liquid took in Dubai their first victory of the year against their archenemy, Gaimin Gladiators.

BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 is the first tournament of 2024 and Team Liquid and where Gaimin Gladiators resumed their rivalry. The two teams haven’t faced each other since TI12, where Gaimin eliminated Liquid in the top 6.

About three months and a half later, Liquid took their revenge.

Team Liquid started things off with a strong showing from the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 1v1 Solo Tournament champion, Michał "Nisha" Jankowski, who went with a last pick Sniper. Between his deathless performance and a powerful Io-Marci combo, Team Liquid had a strong grip on the game from an early stage and snowballed to a fast first game victory leaving GG no room for a comeback.

Moving forward, Gaimin evened the series with a draft built around Alchemist and strong team fight tools. They had a plethora of strong lockdowns and control spells between Tusk and Slardar, and an overwhelming team fight presence with an Enigma and Queen of Pain. They managed to keep Nisha’s Arc Warden under control to avoid a 0-2.

Heading into the final game of the series, Liquid snatched the Alchemist and paired him with low cooldown spells from the rest of the team to constantly pressure Gaimin, who tried to replicate the game two strategy, despite not having the Alchemist. They replaced it with a Sven but found themselves constantly controlled by Liquid’s Tiny and carry Windranger. Liquid had better initiation tools that allowed them to land their first win over Gaimin Gladiators in 2024 and proceed to the top 4 at BetBoom Dacha 2024.
