D2CL returns with $25,000 prize pool

Epic Esports Events will be relaunching the Dota 2 Champions League with the first event in the series starting April 5th featuring a $25,000 prize pool. 

Epic Esports Events is happy to announce the first tournament of their new Dota 2 Champions League (D2CL). 

It is expected that there will be five events in the new series. The first tournament will feature 20 teams from the CIS and European regions competing online for the lion’s share of the $25,000 prize pool. The group stage will take place from April 5th-10th, followed by the finals between April 11-12th.

Of the 20 teams to participate, 15 of them have already received direct invitations to the tournament, the remaining 5 slots will be selected during the open qualifiers which will take place on April 3rd and 4th. Signups for the open qualifiers can be found here on FACEIT

GRID is supporting Epic Esports Events with data distribution of the events. GRID aims to ensure their data is securely distributed and will also be utilizing their data-driven content via visual additions to the broadcasts across Epic’s own Russian broadcast, as well as TEBTV’s English broadcast.

Fans will remember D2CL events that took place between 2014-2018 featuring the likes of Alliance, Virtus.pro, Team Liquid, and Na’Vi. 

Alliance took home the last championship title at MegaFon Champions League Season 2 in December 2018.
