NA TI8 qualifiers in disarray after new patch update

The new patch update including Underhollow Beckons threw the NA TI8 open qualifiers into disarray, forcing FACEIT to void all matches and restart the event one day later.

Historically, patch updates have been known to cause interruptions in gameplay in some capacity. The release of the new multiteam Dungeon Clash, Underhollow Beckons, was no exception and this time bringing along chaos to the North American TI8 hopefuls.

Shortly after the patch update, the game went down and the subsequent result was problems with the FACEIT platform's bots and the game coordinator for the next two hours.

We didn't expect this patch and any destabilization of GC could endanger the entire open qualifiers and it's exactly what happened as Round 1 matches had wrong reports and players couldn't join the games OR the system was tagging wrong people AFK/Leavers as GC connection was down.

Since a lot of teams suffered in 1st round because of this and lost their opportunity to play, we decided to move the NA open qualifiers for tomorrow where everyone will be able to signup again and play again from the 1st round. Sorry for the situation everyone, but this was completely out of our control :/

Regardless of any results or how far teams progressed, all matches will be replayed, giving ALL teams another shot.

FACEIT has reported that the first set of qualifiers will either be played out in their entirety on June 15th or all qualifiers will be postponed for the region by one day depending on the number of teams that will participate in the rescheduled event. They have assured teams that they will be factoring in the number of games to be played and will not overburden the teams.

While the community seems to be outraged by the situation, pointing fingers at FACEIT's platform, many acknowledge the fault to be with Valve for releasing the patch update during an event — seemingly oblivious or unsympathetic in their timing.

The other regions have not been affected and will be continuing in the second day of the First Round of TI8 open qualifiers today, June 15th. Round Two will be on June 16th for the various regions. Teams can still sign up for the final chance to gain a spot in the regional qualifiers.

The Underhollow

Last year Valve introduced their first multiplayer adventure game mode with The Siltbreakwer campaign. This year, Battle Pass owners will be able to enjoy the multiteam Dungeon Clash with the storyline centering around Roshan.

Roshan is on a ravenous, cheese-fueled rampage and Battle Pass owners are invited to venture beyond the surface of his lair into the heart of the Underhollow.
Battle through a labyrinth filled with monsters, marvels, and many other three-player enemy squads as you search for Roshan's rarest cheese and work to be the last team standing. You'll need to navigate carefully to earn the XP and Gold needed to destroy your opponents.
But don't take too long—Roshan's cheese frenzy is causing cave-ins as he moves towards the center of the Underhollow. Soon enough there will be nowhere left to run.
