With a tidy 2:0 sweep, ViCi Gaming defeated Team MAX and secured a place at Galaxy Battles LAN in place of LGD Gaming who will now be traveling to Summit 7 instead.
In the quickly building list of teams and tournaments shaken up by visa issues, LGD Gaming withdrew from Galaxy Battles when they accepted the spot at the Summit 7 after CDEC Gaming were blocked twice by the embassy.
Originally, LGD had narrowly missed the opportunity to travel to LA when they were edged out in the Grand Finals 3:2. Instead, they were able to take a consolation prize by seizing up the Chinese qualifier spot for Galaxy Battles LAN scheduled to take place on the same dates in China.
Upon receiving the withdrawal from LGD, NESO - the organizers of Galaxy Battles immediately went into action and approached the next three teams in line - LGD.Y, Team MAX and ViCi Gaming - all tied with a 5 wins 2 losses record.
Already in Moscow for EPICENTER 2017, LGD.Y declined to participate in a tie breaker, leaving it between the Team MAX and VG to duke it out in a best-of-three series.
ViCi Gaming were hungry for a LAN opportunity and seized the second chance by the horns. They charged out of the gates for the first match like a bat out of hell and destroyed Team Max in 28 minutes with a 21: 5 score.
Team Max hit back hard the second match, putting up a better fight, but still at no avail as ViCi Gaming closed in on them about 45 mintues in.
Galaxy Battles LAN starts in 10 days with a seeding group stage taking place June 14-15. The teams will be divided into two groups of four and will compete in a bo2- Round Robin format. Starting on the 16th of June the main event playoffs will take place on the big stage of the Shenzhen Bay Sports Stadium in a double elimination, best-of-three format with best-of-five grand finals.
